COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class introduces students to the political, economic, religious, social, intellectual, and artistic trends that shaped Europe from 1450 to the present. Students will acquire knowledge of the chronology of events and movements as well as develop the ability to analyze historical documents and express historical understanding in writing. As part of the Advanced Placement program, the course prepares students for the AP European History exam. All students will take the AP European History Exam in May.

Day to Day Information
OFFICE HOURS: I will be available during specific times for Office Hours. I will be able to answer questions via email and Google Meet during Office Hours. Time TBD and will be announced via Google Classroom. I will respond to emails in a timely and reasonable manner.
GOOGLE CLASSROOM: Mr. Griggs will post all class materials (Notes, Videos, HW, classwork, study materials, ect.) on our Google Classroom page. Please let Mr. Griggs know if you will have difficulty accessing the internet outside of school and arrangements can be made. It will be your responsibility to keep track of your work.

HOMEWORK GRADING POLICY: Homework is graded as follows:
LATE WORK: Unless prior arrangements have been made, late work should be shared via Google Classroom. Work turned in late will be given half credit (50%). Work will only be accepted within a 5 week timeframe (1st half of the marking period/2nd half of the marking period). Papers/Projects will be marked down 10% each day they are late.
MAKE UP EXAMS: If you miss an exam, you must make arrangements with me to make it up. You have five days (once you return to make up the exam) to make up the exam. After five days parents will be notified. Exams will be placed in the Testing Room for completion.
ATTENDANCE POLICY: You must come to class to be successful! You are responsible for getting the work (classwork and homework) that you missed.
TARDY POLICY: Three tardies = a referral. Don’t be late to class.
CELL PHONE POLICY: Cell phones can be a vital research tool; however, inappropriate use will be reflected negatively in your PARTICIPATION GRADE. Do not use your cell phone in class for texting, using Social Media, or playing games. Cell phones must be left in your bag/pocket and on silent unless given permission to use by Mr. Griggs.

GRADING BREAKDOWN:

- Projects/Papers/Essays: 20%
- Quizzes: 15%
- Participation/Classwork: 20%
- Midterm is 5% of your final grade
- Final Presentation is 15% of your final grade
- Check Plus (100%): Assignment is carefully and fully completed on time.
- Check (85%): Assignment is done but not thoughtfully or thoroughly completed.
- Check Minus (65%): Assignment is incomplete or shows minimal effort.
